When I first read Outlander I knew nothing about the series, and the first time Jamie came on page I was desperate for him to be the hero (and had no idea that he would be).Leah Ashtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07541640223609201519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1513769632913968502.post-50403073436247521192012-06-19T06:31:33.365-07:002012-06-19T06:31:33.365-07:00My fav character ... like others said, there are j...My fav character ... like others said, there are just so many. Right now, I'm listening to Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series (great reader!) and I have to say both Claire and Jamie are characters that I want to meet. They are strong in their own ways, even as they marry other people and live apart for 20 years!Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02413692728205755414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1513769632913968502.post-75098779461910524292012-06-19T02:42:34.282-07:002012-06-19T02:42:34.282-07:00Hi Natalija! Your comment got me thinking about what makes a character strong, as I think you're right and being proactive or "strong" on the page isn't necessarily what I meant. I think maybe consistent, well-motivated or even fully formed is a better term?Leah Ashtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07541640223609201519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1513769632913968502.post-69322198909005078272012-06-18T23:50:03.013-07:002012-06-18T23:50:03.013-07:00I'm a big fan of buttoned-up characters who ne...I'm a big fan of buttoned-up characters who need to come to terms with their feelings too, Natalija. There's something intriguing about a character who can keep control of themselves and needs to be unpeeled. Probably because I am so unmysterious myself!Jessica Harthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08665523780886208301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1513769632913968502.post-18147856756246375192012-06-18T15:40:37.661-07:002012-06-18T15:40:37.661-07:00Great post, thanks for sharing! Phillip Hawthorne, Marquess of Kayne in "Secret Desires of a Gentleman" by Laura Lee Guhrke. Phillip comes off cold and conservative snob. Of course, underneath that all lies a man of great passion, but the thing is that I truly enjoyed his conservative, buttoned-up side.Natalijahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06157583437320090608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1513769632913968502.post-51546503953586992752012-06-18T14:56:10.641-07:002012-06-18T14:56:10.641-07:00It's very difficult to narrow it down to just ...It's very difficult to narrow it down to just one character. My favourite Austen heroine is Anne Elliot. I don't know if you'd consider her a "strong character" because she isn't nearly as proactive as Sophie is (judging by the excerpt on your website) but then again, there's so much about her life over which she has little or no control.Laura Vivancohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00906661869372622821noreply@blogger.com
